Lasse Schmitz

Project Manager, DHL Consulting

My Job as Inhouse Consultant:

I joined DHL Consulting in July 2021 and have been involved in a diverse range of projects and topics since then. Initially, I was assigned to a digitalization project for the Global HR department of DHL Express. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to work on projects for Post & Parcel Germany and DHL Global Forwarding, effectively covering 3 out of the 5 Business Units within the group. Along the way, I transitioned from being a project team member to taking on leadership roles and managing my own projects.

My daily challenges:

The core focus of my day is working with our clients on their business challenges and collaborating with them to develop solutions. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that at DHL Consulting, we often form joint project teams with our colleagues from the group, eliminating any artificial barriers. In addition to my project work, I appreciate the flexibility to engage in various internal topics. In my case, this includes actively participating in diversity & inclusion initiatives and organizing our new-joiner onboarding training.

Why I like to work as Inhouse Consultant:

Inhouse Consulting at DHL Consulting involves taking on diverse and stimulating challenges, allowing us to continuously grow and learn. While we encounter a variety of interesting situations, we also benefit from a supportive team, fostering a positive atmosphere and organizing enjoyable events. Additionally, our close relationships with clients contribute to a collaborative and rewarding work environment.

What I like most about being an Inhouse Consultant:

For me, Inhouse Consulting embodies the essence of working alongside a motivated and high-performing team, while still maintaining a harmonious balance between work and personal life. Our work environment offers exceptional flexibility, allowing us to adapt our schedules, work hours, and even the option to work remotely. This sense of flexibility greatly enhances the overall experience of being part of Inhouse Consulting.

My life before joining the Inhouse Consultancy:

My academic background aligns closely with expectations, as I completed a bachelor’s degree in economics in Heidelberg, followed by a master’s degree in international management in Frankfurt. However, what I find particularly exciting about Inhouse Consulting is the diverse range of study backgrounds within our team. Alongside my studies, I gained practical experience through internships in various external and Inhouse Consultancies. Prior to joining DHL Consulting in 2021, I also had the opportunity to work in another Inhouse Consultancy.

What I like to do in my spare time:

I enjoy engaging in physical activities such as running in the morning or during lunch breaks to refresh my mind. In my free time, I also relish spending quality moments with friends and embarking on weekend getaways or vacations to explore new places. Lately, I have developed a keen interest in hiking trips, which have added an exciting dimension to my recreational pursuits.

In my case, this includes actively participating in diversity & inclusion initiatives and promoting our Psychological Safety culture.
